Pet Food Ingredients Provenance / Meat Sources

We have many enquiries from pet owners who are keen to establish that the ingredients in the food that they offer their cats and dogs meets the same high standards that they choose for themselves. Our ingredients are purchased only from reputable, human food-chain suppliers, and are chosen for quality, consistency and nutrient value. Every raw ingredient is purchased to a fixed specification and tested for all 3 criteria to ensure conformance before it is even accepted into the factory. As an additional check, the ingredient producers are routinely audited to ensure that their manufacturing facilities and procedures are suitable. Arden Grange pet foods are manufactured in the UK to a fixed recipe, and we will never reduce the quality of our ingredients because of market prices. No invasive research projects have been conducted in relation to the manufacture of our products, and Arden Grange pet foods are not tested on animals – guaranteed. Many customers have expressed an interest in the origins of the meat used in Arden Grange pet foods. Chicken
Chicken has highest biological value of all the meats, making it an excellent protein source for cats and dogs. Our chicken meat is taken from the carcasses of chickens reared in the UK commercially for their meat. These chickens are not battery-reared like egg laying hens, and are kept in pens according to the strict criteria stipulated by the Department of the Environment, Farming & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) as well as supermarket regulations. These state how the birds should be fed, cared for and handled. The chicken that we use does not contain any growth hormones.
Our fresh chicken is the meat remaining around the bones once the wings, thighs and main breast cuts have been removed for human consumption. It is incorporated into the product within 24 hours.
Our chicken meal comprises the clean parts of the carcass ground up into a fine, calcium-rich flour. It does NOT include the head, feet or feathers.
Our chicken fat is pure chicken oil purchased from a supplier to the human food industry.
Lamb
Lamb provides wholesome and gentle nutrition for all types of dogs, especially those that may suffer from allergies or other irritations caused by their diet. Our lamb meal is made from imported, grass-fed New Zealand lamb. Lamb meal is rich in calcium and is produced from meat trimmings and the clean parts of the carcass cooked, dried and ground into a fine flour. It does NOT include the wool, blood, head, hooves and specified risk material such as the spinal cord.
Salmon
Samon is a rich source of Omega 3 fatty acids. Salmon Arden Grange fresh salmon is sourced from lochs in the Scottish Highlands. We use only salmon products which are fully traceable, derived entirely from materials fit for human consumption and which are acceptable to the very stringent control measures imposed by the quality UK supermarket chains.
The protein levels in Arden Grange pet foods are carefully balanced against all the other essential nutrients contained within the diets. The fat to protein ratio ensures an adequate supply of calories from fat to fuel metabolism so that the protein can be used to support structural and functional demands. Our pet foods are manufactured using the highest quality protein sources available to ensure that excellent amino acid profiles are guaranteed.
