fussy pet? how to feed discerning cats and dogs

Reasons why your cat or dog is rejecting their food and what to do about it.

Wednesday 17th March 2021

There is an important difference between ‘fussiness’ and ‘inappetence’.  The former has its roots in behaviour while a sudden loss of appetite could be a sign your pet is experiencing dental problems, illness or pain.

Owners should always seek veterinary advice to establish if a medical condition is responsible (this is especially important in cats as their health can decline rapidly if they stop eating).

If your pet is not unwell or underweight as a result of the issue, you are most likely to be looking at a behavioural rather than a medical problem, but always err on the side of caution and speak to your vet if you are worried.
