Healthy Halloweeny pumpkin dog treats

Your dog might not be able to calve pumpkins this spooky season. But they can definitely join you in diving into some spooky-themed treats!
Created by our very own nutrition advisor and registered Vet Nurse, Ness. This delicious recipe, filled with superfoods (curcumin and black pepper) is bound to get your little devil's tail wagging.
Ingredients
  • Two thirds of a medium pumpkin (don't include seeds)
  • 1tsp curcumin
  • 4 twists of black pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • Fresh parsley
  • 20ml olive oil
  • 150g gluten-free flour
Method
  1. Carve a medium pumpkin (you need about 2 thirds – don’t include the seeds or too much “stringy” material).
  2. Blend pumpkin, 1 teaspoon curcumin, 4 twists of black pepper, 2 eggs, fresh parsley, and about 20mls olive oil in a food processor/smoothie maker.
  3. Pour into a bowl and add about 150g GF flour, mix until combined (it should be quite a loose mixture – pourable but not runny).
  4. Pour into a grease-proof paper lined baking tray and cook at 180 degrees C for about 40 mins or until just starting to brown.
  5. Take out and leave to cool, cut into bite-sized pieces, and store in a jar in a cool dark place.
Remember
  • These treats are good for about 5 days, and they can also be frozen to help them last longer.
  • These treats are high in fibre so should only be given in moderation.
